Art Update # 12 - Red Dragon and Jackalope

Hope all is well. I’ve been doing pretty good on this end. I’ve been painting a lot and even managing to work on some technical art practice stuff on the side. It’s been great to have my art mojo back!

I’m really excited to add more beasties to my cryptids collection. This week I’ve made a lot of progress on the Jackalope. This creature is basically a jackrabbit bearing horns or antlers, frequently depicted with deer antlers. They are ferocious little critters that are rumored to bite your ankles. My usual style portrays them as a little more laid back and cute though =) I’m really happy with how this is going so far, especially the rabbit fur.

I think it needs something in the middle at the bottom. I was thinking maybe a little banner like a display card that says the name and where this creature originated. I digitally added it to the photo. What do you think? Please let me know which one you prefer in the comments below.

I’ve finished the red dragon from last week. Just waiting for it to dry fully and then I’ll varnish and frame. I’ll try to have it done by next week.

What other cryptids would you like to see in this collection? Please comment below and let me know! It will only take you a minute and would really help me out.
