I’m having a pretty good week. I’ve been a bit slow creatively since I have so much crazy life stuff happening. Nothing bad, just lots of adventures with my kid enjoying the last few weeks of summer. I hope your life is going well too.
PAINTING PROGRESS
When I sent out Blinky the Frankenfish last week, I got a ton of encouragement to go ahead and paint him. I felt he had to be a big painting, at least 16”x20”, but wanted to practice with the new glow in the dark paints on something smaller first. I decided to paint a smaller 8”x10” portrait of our fishy friend beforehand as a test run. Here is my progress so far. It’s nowhere near done but I’m pretty happy with the lighting on the face.

CRYPTID ART UPDATES
I’m done with the Mothman and Jersey Devil body sketches. I’m currently mulling over the backgrounds. I may add the Silver Bridge in the background of the Mothman painting but I’m trying to figure out the composition. I guess I’m also a but anxious about the prospect of painting some architecture.
Next week, my mission is to head to the Pine Barrens to get some reference photos for the background of my Jersey Devil painting. So excited to get started to work on them!
Next week is going to be another crazy one but I hope to get some more done so I have updates to send you.
